BA-LL.B (Hons.) Program
ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Faculty of Law offers 5 years full time BA-LL.B (Hons.) and BBA-LL.B (Hons.) Programs which are approved by Bar Council of India (BCI).

Duration :

5 years

Eligibility :

Pass in 10+2 (any discipline) with 50% and above aggregate marks. Scores of Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), Law School Admission Test (LSAT) and the ICFAI Law School Admission Test (ILSAT 2021) will be given weightage. Students appearing for final examinations and awaiting results are also eligible for admission.

Applicants should not be more than 21 years of age as on the day of commencement of the program, ie., August 30, 2021.

Note: Age restriction for Law Programs can be relaxed as per BCI guidelines.

Program Structure :

The curriculum is most contemporary and innovatively designed and developed in association with academicians and professional experts, and as per the guidelines of Bar Council of India. The programs are organized into ten semesters spread over fi ve years. There are legal internships after every year. Every semester comprises of 18 weeks in which 2 weeks are allotted for conducting mid-semesters and end-semester tests.

ADMISSION MODALITIES

The admission modalities are with reference to the full time campus programs offered by the ICFAI University, Sikkim. All applicants who meet the eligibility criteria specified for the program and have studied in English medium in their qualifying examination are eligible to apply.

Final year students awaiting results can also apply. Their admission will be provisional, subject to qualifying in the final examination. The registration and admission of these applicants is liable to be cancelled in case they do not fulfill the eligibility criteria by September 15, 2021. In such cases, admission fee will be forfeited and only 50% of the semester fee will be refunded after notifying the cancellation of the seat by the University.

Semester System:

The University follows semester pattern for all its programs. Each academic year consists of two semesters. Continuous evaluation is carried out through mid-semester examinations, assignments, quizzes etc., culminating in an end semester examination. The students also have to undergo faculty supervised internships for practical training.

Medium of Instruction:

The medium of instruction is English.

Selection Procedure

The selection of applicants into the UG/PG programs of the University is subject to fulfilment of the eligibility criteria made through screening of the applications. Due weightage is given to academic distinction, honors and awards in sports, cultural events, extra-curricular activities viz debates, quizzes and adventure sports. All applicants meeting the selection criteria will be given a provisional admission subject to verification of the documents at the time of registration and payment of fee.

Registration:

All applicants having received the provisional admissions are required to present themselves with Original academic/other certificates and residence proof/HRDD Govt. of Sikkim allotment letters in case seeking fee concessions, for verification along with semester and other fees on the date of Registration. In addition, photocopies are also required to be submitted for retention in their record with the University. Original certificates will be returned after verification.

Special Reservation:

There shall be a special provision for admission of applicants belonging to the State of Sikkim in any course of the ICFAI University, Sikkim, which shall not be less than 25 (twenty-five) per cent of seats in each course/discipline subject to the applicants meeting the minimum qualifying requirements referred below. Seats remaining unfilled under special reservation may be filled up by allotting the same to applicants belonging to Open Category. The Government Quota students will be given a fee concession of 50% on program fees. In addition to the Government quota, seats will be reserved with fee concession for applicants from the state of Sikkim, GTA area and the nearby North Bengal region as per the mandate of the University to serve the educational needs of the state of Sikkim and the nearby areas.

Late Admission Facility:

There is a limited window for applicants who miss the regular admission deadline due to reasons beyond control. Such applicants can directly come with admission documents with admission and semester fees as applicable to their program and seek admission as walk in applicants till September 10, 2021.

Commencement of Classes:

The classes for the Academic year 2021-22 will commence from August 30, 2021.

Award of Degree:

Students successfully completing the program are awarded degree in their respective discipline by the University, in accordance with the University rules.

Anti-ragging & Anti-sexual Harassment:

The ICFAI University provides a ragging free campus. The University follows the UGC guidelines and norms regarding the anti-ragging and anti-sexual harassment policies. The students are required to submit the duly signed affidavit for Anti-ragging at the time of admission to the University.

Guidelines on How to Complete the Application Form

The applicants are advised to read the guidelines carefully before completing the Application Form for Admission.

Application Cum Enrolment Form
  1. Please make sure that you meet the eligibility criteria before filling up the Application Form.
  2. Fill the Application Form in CAPITAL LETTERS.
  3. Please provide all available and correct information in appropriate sections.
  4. Make sure to sign the Application Form.
  5. Retain a photo copy of the Application Form along with documents stipulated.
  6. Demand Draft for Rs. 3000 as applicable for the program applied for, towards admission fee drawn in favor of The ICFAI University, Sikkim-Fee Collection A/c payable at Gnagtok.
Attested Copies of Certificates

Applicants are required to submit self-attested copies of the following certificates at the time of registration with originals for verification:

  • Birth Certificate / Class X Certificate
  • Marksheets of Class XII / Degree Certificates (as may be applicable)
  • Fees concession (if applicable) requisite documents to be attached.
  • Nationality Certificate/Proof, for foreign students only
  • Other certificates pertaining to academic and extra curricular activities.

The scanned application form and the Admission fee DD to be sent along with the courier consignment number to the email address given above in case sent through mail or courier.

FEE SCHEDULE

Admission Fee:

Admission Fee (One Time) of Rs. 3,000 for all programs is to be paid by all the students along with the application forms.

Exam Fee:

All the students need to pay an amount of Rs. 2,000 per semester for UG & PG programs towards Exam Fee along with the Program Fee.

Caution Deposit:

All students are required to pay a Caution Deposit (One Time) of Rs. 5,000 along with the First Semester Fee. The Caution Deposit will be refunded without interest and after adjusting for dues, if any, to the students on completion of the Program.

Program Fee:

Students have to pay the fee at the beginning of each semester, as per the due dates which will be notified separately at the relevant time.

  • Applicants should not be more than 20 years of age as on the day of commencement of the semester I.
  • However, the changes made to age limitation by the BCI from time to time will be followed.

However, limited seats will be available for SC & ST students with relaxation in the eligibility criteria as per the Govt. norms where ever applicable. Students awaiting for final year examination results are also eligible for admission. The Management reserves the right to accept or reject any application with valid ground/s.

** Fee Concession: A limited number of seats are reserved for fee concession to students coming from the University catchment areas on first come first served basis. l 50% fee concession to the students coming from Sikkim Government Quota. l 30% fee concession to the students from North East States, GTA Region & North Bengal. (Fees concessions shall be applicable only after due verification of the documents/residential proof) and other related clause.

Remittance:

All payments should be made by way of demand draft or banker’s cheque drawn in favor of “The ICFAI University, Sikkim - Fee Collection A/c” payable at Gangtok, Sikkim.

Merit Scholarships:

The ICFAI University Sikkim offers merit scholarships to students pursuing the UG & PG Programs. The scholarships are based on performance in Class XII (or equivalent)/ Graduation (or equivalent) and Semester-wise performance during the Program.

A. Merit Scholarships based on past academic record:

Percentage of marks achieved in qualifying examination (10+2 or its equivalent) will decide the amount of scholarship. The Scholarship will be awarded from second semester. Scholarship will continue semester after semester only on maintaining the minimum 8.0 GPA. The details are as presented in the following table.

B. Merit Scholarships based on Semester-wise Performance:

Up to 10% of the students of the batch will be awarded merit scholarships based on their Semester-wise performance (Details presented in the table given below). These scholarships are offered in addition to the scholarships based on the past academic record.
