About the Program
The Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Economics is a 3 year campus
based program offered by the university with a focus on
qualitative and quantitative aspects of economics. The
curriculum of this program is structured under choice
based credit system as recommended by the UGC and
acknowledged internationally. It allows students to choose
elective courses according to their aim, requirements,
interest and aptitude. Through this program students not
only learn core subjects in the field of economics but also get
additional avenues of learning inter-disciplinary subjects for
their overall development. The program makes the students
more employable and competitive with the knowledge, skills
and attitude and also equips them to pursue MA Economics
or MBA or other professional courses appropriate with the
degree after graduation.

Eligibility Criteria
Pass in 10+2 (any discipline) from a recognized board with aggregate marks 50% and above. Students awaiting their final examinations results can also apply.
Students who have studied Economics as a subject in 10+2 level will be an added advantage.

Program Structure
The BA Economics (Honours) program consists of 30 courses covered in six semesters spread over three years. The students are required to take Dissertation during the sixth semester. The actual choice of electives will however depend on the optimal number of students opting for the same elective. Two Ability Enhancement Compulsory Courses (AECC) and 2 Skill Enhancement Courses (SEC) are also the part of the curriculum. While AECC based upon the content that leads to knowledge enhancement, the SECs are value based and/ or skill based. In particular, SEC like Computer Application & Project is lab oriented practical paper and aimed at providing hands on training through latest application software essential, suitable and most relevant in modern research. Tailor made courses like Gross National Happiness (GNH), Eastern Himalayan Studies is also very unique in this program and will be an added strength for the students of Bhutan, Nepal & North Eastern Himalayan Region of India.
