The Bachelor of Arts in Political Science is a campus based program offered by the University. Successful pursuance of the course builds in candidates reasoning and analytical skills, competency in oral and written expression, research and evaluation skills, the ability to arrive at decisions based on analysis and synthesis of information and data, and such skills which are valued in a wide spectrum of potential career areas. Successful graduates of this course are hired for roles such as Budget Analyst, Public Relations and Fundraising Manager, Legislative Assistant, Political Scientist, Political Campaign Manager, Market Researcher etc.
4-year BA (Pol. Sc.) Degree (Honours): A four-year BA (Pol. Sc.) Degree (Honours) degree in the major discipline will be awarded to those who complete a four-year degree programme with 160 credits and have satisfied the credit requirements as per UGC guidelines.

- The first one year course will provide the general knowledge about the disciplines of Social Sciences.
- Comprehend the knowledge about social sciences in general and political in science particular.

- Student who completes two semesters including Internship Program I with 44 credits will be awarded as Certificate in Political Science.
- If student wish to continue further after exit, then he/she has to join within three years of exit from Third Semester.

- The students will understand the Western political thought and theory from ancient to modern times, and their various contributions
- The students will understand administration as a discipline including its evolution, public policy making and analysis and how to apply the knowledge in understanding the role of administration.
- The course intends to familiarize students with basic concepts and approaches to the study of human rights.
- After studying international relations students will gain an understanding of how countries interact with each other, and the complex political, economic and social factors that shape these interactions.
- The students will learn about India’s approach to international relations, its foreign policy and diplomatic objectives towards different regions and countries.
- From this course students will also develop the ability to critically assess and form opinions on philosophical and ideological issues that is relevant to contemporary India.
- Student who completes six semesters with 124 credits will be awarded as Bachelor in Political Science.

- Students will learn/understand the subject in more practical and action oriented manner including research, methods of data collection, field survey, conduct interviews and its various aspects.
- Students will perform research in their desired areas and advance knowledge in his/ her areas of research.
- It will help students tremendously in comprehensive understanding and in exploration of their respective subjects.
- Students after completing 4 years of BA Political Science Honors with research with less than 75% of marks/7.5 CGPA shall be eligible for 1 year MA in Political Science Program.
- If students after completing 4 years of BA Political Science Honors with research with minimum 75%/7.5 CGPA shall be eligible for PhD program.
Admission Modalities
The admission modalities are with reference to the full-time campus programs offered by the ICFAI University, Sikkim. All applicants who meet the eligibility criteria specified for the program and have studied in English medium in their qualifying examination are eligible to apply. Final year students awaiting results can also apply. Their admission will be provisional, subject to qualifying in the final examination. The registration and admission of these applicants is liable to be cancelled in case they do not fulfill the eligibility criteria by September 19, 2024.
Semester System
The University follows semester pattern for all its programs. Each academic year consists of two semesters. Continuous evaluation is carried out through mid-semester examinations, assignments, quizzes etc., culminating in an end semester examination. The students also have to undergo faculty supervised internships for practical training.The medium of instruction is English

- Due weightage is given to academic distinction, honors and awards in sports, cultural events, extra-curricular activities viz debates, quizzes and adventure sports.
- All applicants meeting the selection criteria will be given a provisional admission subject to verification of the documents at the time of registration and payment of fee.
Registration
- All applicants having received the provisional admissions are required to present themselves with Original academic/other certificates and residence proof/HRDD Govt. of Sikkim allotment letters in case seeking fee concessions, for verification along with semester and other fees on the date of Registration.
- In addition, photocopies are also required to be submitted for retention in their record with the University. Original certificates will be returned after verification

Special Reservation
- There shall be a special provision for admission of applicants belonging to the State of Sikkim in any course of the ICFAI University, Sikkim, which shall not be less than 25 (twenty-five) per cent of seats in each course/discipline subject to the applicants meeting the minimum qualifying requirements referred below.
- Seats remaining unfilled under special reservation may be filled up by allotting the same to applicants belonging to Open Category.
- The Government Quota students will be given a fee concession of 50% on program fees.
- In addition to the Government quota, seats will be reserved with fee concession for applicants from the state of Sikkim, GTA area and the nearby North Bengal region as per the mandate of the University to serve the educational needs of the state of Sikkim and the nearby areas.
Anti-ragging & Anti-sexual Harassment
The ICFAI University provides a ragging free campus. The University follows the UGC guidelines and norms regarding the anti-ragging and anti-sexual harassment policies. The students are required to submit the duly signed affidavit for Anti-ragging at the time of admission to the University.

Admission Fee
Admission Fee (One Time) of ₹3,000/- for all programs is to be paid by all the students along with the application forms.
Exam Fee
All the students need to pay an amount of ₹2,000/- per semester for UG & PG programs towards Exam Fee along with the Program Fee.
Caution Deposit
All students are required to pay a Caution Deposit (One Time) of ₹5,000/- along with the First Semester Fee. The Caution Deposit will be refunded without interest and after adjusting for dues, if any, to the students on completion of the Program.

Merit Scholarships
The ICFAI University Sikkim offers merit scholarships to students pursuing the UG & PG Programs. The scholarships are based on performance in Class XII (or equivalent)/ Graduation (or equivalent) and Semester-wise performance during the Program.
A. Merit Scholarships based on past academic record: Percentage of marks achieved in qualifying examination will decide the amount of scholarship. The Scholarship amount will be awarded in 2 equal instalments i.e. in the first and second semester of the program. The second instalment of the scholarship will be awarded on securing a minimum 8.00 GPA in the first semester. The students availing 50% program fee concession (i.e., Govt. Quota students) will not be eligible for scholarships based on Past Academic Record. However, they will be eligible for scholarships based on semester-wise performance. The scholarship details are as presented in the following table.

B. Merit Scholarships based on Semester-wise Performance: Up to 10% of the students of the batch will be awarded merit scholarships based on their Semester-wise performance (Details presented in the table given below). These scholarships are offered in addition to the scholarships based on the past academic record.
