The Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) is a campus based program offered with a view to impart in depth knowledge and broad understanding of accounting and financial management. The curriculum of the B.Com program provides a carefully selected subject combination of accountancy, economics, management & decision science, banking & insurance and commercial law. The program prepares the student with the knowledge, skills and attitude to meet the challenges of the modern day business organizations and also equips them to pursue M.Com or MBA degree programs and other professional courses further.

3-year B.Com Degree : Students who wish to undergo a 3-year programme will be awarded B.Com Degree in the Major discipline after successful completion of three years, securing 120 credits and satisfying the minimum credit requirements as per UGC guidelines.

Award

Students successfully completing the program are awarded degree in their respective discipline by the University, in accordance with the University rules

Objectives

The program offered gives the students an exposure to the world of business and industry. The program initiates students into the principles and practices of advanced accounting and the dynamics of management, together with banking, marketing, auditing, company law and allied disciplines.

Exit Option-Student who completes two semesters including Internship Program I with 46 credits will be awarded with Certificate. If student wish to continue further after exit, then he/she must join within three years of exit from Third Semester. For example, if student exit in June 2023, then he / she can rejoin the course within Aug-2026 session

  • Analyze the process of value creation through marketing decisions involving product pricing and its distribution.
  • Describe the framework of dividend distribution, Accounts of the company and Audit and Auditors of company.
  • Comprehend the provisions relating to filing of return of income.
  • Analyze provisions regarding penalties and interest and to prepare and file GST return on-line.

Exit Option-Student who completes six semesters with 128 credits will be awarded as Bachelor in Commerce. If student wish to continue further after exit, then he/she must join within three years of exit from Seventh Semester. For example, if student exit in June 2023, then he / she can rejoin the course within Aug-2026 session.

  • Students after completing Bachelor can either go for B.com Honors \Honors with Research in Fourth year.

Admission Modalities

The admission modalities are with reference to the full-time campus programs offered by the ICFAI University, Sikkim. All applicants who meet the eligibility criteria specified for the program and have studied in English medium in their qualifying examination are eligible to apply. Final year students awaiting results can also apply. Their admission will be provisional, subject to qualifying in the final examination. The registration and admission of these applicants is liable to be cancelled in case they do not fulfill the eligibility criteria by September 19, 2024.

Semester System

The University follows semester pattern for all its programs. Each academic year consists of two semesters. Continuous evaluation is carried out through mid-semester examinations, assignments, quizzes etc., culminating in an end semester examination. The students also have to undergo faculty supervised internships for practical training.The medium of instruction is English.

Eligibility

  • The selection of applicants into the UG/PG programs of the University is subject to fulfilment of the eligibility criteria made through screening of the applications.
  • Due weightage is given to academic distinction, honors and awards in sports, cultural events, extra-curricular activities viz debates, quizzes and adventure sports.
  • All applicants meeting the selection criteria will be given a provisional admission subject to verification of the documents at the time of registration and payment of fee.

Registration

  • All applicants having received the provisional admissions are required to present themselves with Original academic/other certificates and residence proof/HRDD Govt. of Sikkim allotment letters in case seeking fee concessions, for verification along with semester and other fees on the date of Registration.
  • In addition, photocopies are also required to be submitted for retention in their record with the University. Original certificates will be returned after verification.

Admission Criteria

  • The selection of applicants into the Program is made through screening of applications and interview. While evaluating students for admission, due weightage is given to their academic distinction, awards in sports/cultural events, debates, quizzes and other extra co-curricular activities.
  • Original certificates and Domicile certificate should be produced for verification at the time of payment of first semester fee. The original certificates will be returned after verification.
  • The admission decision will be communicated after the interview process.

Special Reservation

  • There shall be a special provision for admission of applicants belonging to the State of Sikkim in any course of the ICFAI University, Sikkim, which shall not be less than 25 (twenty-five) per cent of seats in each course/discipline subject to the applicants meeting the minimum qualifying requirements referred below.
  • Seats remaining unfilled under special reservation may be filled up by allotting the same to applicants belonging to Open Category.
  • The Government Quota students will be given a fee concession of 50% on program fees.
  • In addition to the Government quota, seats will be reserved with fee concession for applicants from the state of Sikkim, GTA area and the nearby North Bengal region as per the mandate of the University to serve the educational needs of the state of Sikkim and the nearby areas.

Anti-ragging & Anti-sexual Harassment

The ICFAI University provides a ragging free campus. The University follows the UGC guidelines and norms regarding the anti-ragging and anti-sexual harassment policies. The students are required to submit the duly signed affidavit for Anti-ragging at the time of admission to the University.

Application Modalities

Guidelines on how to Complete the Application Form :

The applicants are advised to read the guidelines carefully before completing the Application Form for Admission.

Application Form :

  1. Please make sure that you meet the eligibility criteria before filling up the Application Form.
  2. Fill the Application Form in CAPITAL LETTERS.
  3. Please provide all available and correct information in appropriate sections.
  4. Make sure to sign the Application Form.
  5. Retain a photo copy of the Application Form along with documents stipulated.
  6. Demand Draft for Admission Fee (One Time) of ₹3,000/- as applicable for the program applied for, towards Admission Fee drawn in favor of “The ICFAI University, Sikkim-Fee Collection A/c” payable at Gangtok

Attested Copies of Certificates :

Applicants have to enclose attested copies of the following certificates (Attestation should be done by any Gazetted Officer/Principal of the College).

  • Birth Certificate / Class X Certificate
  • Marksheets of Class XII / Degree Certificates (as may be applicable)
  • Fee concession (if applicable) requisite documents to be attached.
  • Nationality Certificate/Proof, for foreign students only.
  • Other certificates pertaining to academic and extra curricularactivities.

Fee Schedule

Admission Fee :

Admission Fee (One Time) of ₹3,000/- for all programs is to be paid by all the students along with the application forms.

Exam Fee :

All the students need to pay an amount of ₹2,000/- per semester for UG PG programs towards Exam Fee along with the Program Fee.

Caution Deposit :

All students are required to pay a Caution Deposit (One Time) of ₹5,000/- along with the First Semester Fee. The Caution Deposit will be refunded without interest and after adjusting for dues, if any, to the students on completion of the Program.

Program Fee :

Students have to pay the fee at the beginning of each semester, as per the due dates which will be notified separately at the relevant time.

* The ICFAI University, Sikkim is enabling an equal opportunity for all. However, limited seats will be available for SC ST students with relaxation in the eligibility criteria as per the Govt. of Sikkim norms wherever applicable. Students awaiting for final year examination results are also eligible for admission. The Management reserves the right to accept or reject any application with valid ground/s.

** Fee Concession: The University proposes to give 50% 30% of the program fee concession to the students coming from Sikkim Government Quota students from North East States, GTA Region North Bengal respectively.

Merit Scholarships

The ICFAI University Sikkim offers merit scholarships to students pursuing the UG PG Programs. The scholarships are based on performance in Class XII (or equivalent)/ Graduation (or equivalent) and Semester-wise performance during the Program.

A. Merit Scholarships based on past academic record: Percentage of marks achieved in qualifying examination will decide the amount of scholarship. The Scholarship amount will be awarded in 2 equal instalments i.e. in the first and second semester of the program. The second instalment of the scholarship will be awarded on securing a minimum 8.00 GPA in the first semester. The students availing 50% program fee concession (i.e., Govt. Quota students) will not be eligible for scholarships based on Past Academic Record. However, they will be eligible for scholarships based on semester-wise performance. The scholarship details are as presented in the following table.

B. Merit Scholarships based on Semester-wise Performance: Up to 10% of the students of the batch will be awarded merit scholarships based on their Semester-wise performance (Details presented in the table given below). These scholarships are offered in addition to the scholarships based on the past academic record.
